VA# 1424P: Small Town, Great Hospitalist
>125 bed not-for-profit hospital seeking 1 additional Hospitalist to complete staffing for the group, and eliminate locum tenens. ICU and short term vent are required, while central lines are optional. Average census for the program is 18-24 per Hospitalist while admit range is 4-10 per 24 hours to hospitalist program. With employment by our Regional Not-for-Profit Healthcare System, this position offers solid financial compensation and great job satisfaction for the candidate focused on making a difference in the local community.
Our hospital utilizes residents for additional night coverage as part of their training, allowing our Hospitalists to work primarily days and ofer occasional support to the residents when needed. The daily census is rarely >20, and frequently <15. This is not a tertiary care facility with all specialists available, but we do have access to a tertiary care center and all of their resources 24/7 as needed. Our ideal candidate is seeking an opportunity to treat patients rather than consult for routine issues within the scope of an experienced or well-trained Hospitalist, and comfortable transferring to the bigger facility when needed (located 75 minutes away).
Located in scenic southwest Virginia, our community is the hub of a multi-county region. For healthcare, retail, banking, and dining, many smaller communities support us and appreciate our proximity. While housing and educational options are not as diverse as bigger metro areas, we do have good schools and good housing values. Outdoor recreation is an important component for many local citizens, including hiking, camping, fishing, hunting and kayaking.
Our ideal candidate would be Board Certified or Eligible Internists, but FP or MedPed candidate with substantial inpatient experience would also be welcomed. Sorry, but we do not qualify for H1 cap exemption or J1 waiver sponsor.
